Aviation Representative Position
The MnDOT Office of Aeronautics has a vacancy for an Aviation Representative in St. Paul, Minnesota. Aviation Representatives inspect airports for compliance with state and federal standards and review airport plans and construction projects. They work with airport managers to educate them on best practices for maintaining Minnesota airports. They maintain the system of weather computers at airports throughout the state and participate in safety programs for pilots in Minnesota. Aviation Representatives enforce Minnesota Rules and Statutes pertaining to Aeronautics. They also pilot the State’s Bonanzas providing transportation for Office personnel visiting airports.
The ideal candidate is an individual with a broad background in aviation. A self-starter who works well independently. Someone who has been an airport manager, has worked in management at an FBO or as an instructor or professor in aviation. Other acceptable experience includes that of a safety or compliance inspector for a government agency or a program administrator in an aviation related business. Three years’ experience is required. The position requires the ability to use Microsoft Office software. This position requires a Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate, Single Engine Land with complex and high performance endorsements. A minimum of 1,000 hours is required with 500 hours as pilot-in-command. A First Class Medical Certificate is required by the time of appointment.
