Twin Ports Interchange project monthly update meeting scheduled Nov. 21 in Duluth

DULUTH, Minn. — The next Twin Ports Interchange project monthly update meeting has been scheduled on Monday, November 21. The meetings are designed to provide information and gather comments about a proposal to reconstruct parts of the I-35, I-535, Highway 53 interchange, which is locally known as the “Can of Worms”.

This month’s meeting will include information about the environmental documentation process and the recent Significant Freight and Highway Projects, FASTLANE, grant application announcement. FASTLANE grant funding provides Federal financial assistance to projects of national or regional significance. Grant applications are due December 15, 2016.

MnDOT applied for a FASTLANE grant in 2016 to obtain funding for the Twin Ports Interchange project, but the project was not selected. MnDOT will apply again this year.

This month’s meeting is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, November 21, at the Harrison Community Club, 3002 West Third Street, Duluth, MN  55806. The project update presentation will begin at 5 p.m.

There will not be a monthly meeting in December.
