Sorlie Bridge in East Grand Forks to close on Monday due to rising water levels
Water over the road on some highways in northwestern Minnesota
BEMIDJI, Minn. — The Sorlie Bridge in East Grand Forks will close at noon on Monday, April 8 due to rising water levels on the Red River. The bridge will remain closed until river levels recede and crews can inspect the roadway for safety.
The City of East Grand Forks has set up an online flood dashboard that can be accessed at http://flood.egf.mn
Other highways in northwestern Minnesota that currently have water over the road:
- Hwy 9 north of Ada
- Hwy 9 south of Crookston
- Hwy 92 north of Zerkel
- Hwy 220 north of Oslo
When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
