Road closure on Hwy 220 extended south to Hwy 1

BEMIDJI, Minn. — (2:30 p.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol has extended the road closure on Hwy 220 south to Hwy 1 due to further flooding.

The highways will remain closed until further notice and traffic should seek alternate routes.

  • Hwy 220 from Hwy 1 to the Junction of Hwys 220 and 317
  • Hwy 317 between Hwy 220 and North Dakota border

When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail.

In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
