Sorlie Bridge in East Grand Forks closed due to rising water levels
BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Sorlie Bridge in East Grand Forks closed today due to rising water levels on the Red River. The bridge will remain closed until river levels recede and crews can inspect the roadway for safety. The Kennedy Bridge on Highway 2 remains open.
The City of East Grand Forks has set up an online flood dashboard that can be accessed at http://flood.egf.mn.
When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
