Lane closures on segments of Hwy 27 near Lake Mille Lacs begin Aug. 29
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 27 between Highway 169 in Onamia and the city of Isle, near the south shore of Mille Lacs Lake, will encounter workers, heavy equipment and delays as the road is resurfaced beginning Monday, Aug. 29.
Segments of Highway 27 will be reduced to a single lane from sunrise to sunset through late October. Flaggers and a pilot car will control traffic through the daily work zones. Motorists approaching the work zones must slow down, be prepared to stop, obey all flaggers and use caution when following the pilot car through the work zone.
The closures are needed while crews resurface the road, replace underground pipes and add a new left-turn lane to the Highway 27/Highway 47 intersection in Isle. The project will also replace segments of sidewalk in Isle and Wahkon and make other improvements while lanes are closed.
All businesses in Isle, Wahkon, Onamia and other locations along the project will remain accessible throughout the project.
When complete, the project will provide a smoother ride, extend the life of the road and improve safety and drainage along 10 miles of Highway 27. The project will also improve accessibility in Isle and Wahkon.
