Hwy 24 road closures in Clearwater postponed
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists who travel Highway 24 near the Mississippi River bridge in Clearwater will find all lanes of the road open until further notice.
Intermittent road closures of up to 15 minutes were originally scheduled to begin Monday, Dec. 6. Those closures have been postponed until water levels on the Mississippi River recede below the project’s temporary causeway.
Information on future road closures will be announced as details become available.
When complete in summer 2018, the new Highway 24 Clearwater bridge project will:
- Replace the existing 57-year old Highway 24 bridge with a new two-lane bridge with wide shoulders and a multipurpose trail.
- Preserve an important river crossing that serves local and regional travel, including heavy summertime tourism traffic.
- Improve local utilities.
