Interstate 94 lanes close in Monticello week of Nov. 12

ST CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists on both directions of Interstate 94 in Monticello should watch for slow or stopped traffic as the road is reduced to a single lane beginning Monday, Nov. 12.
Motorists should expect the following:

  • Both directions of I-94 will be reduced to a single lane after 9:30 p.m. Nov. 12 through Nov. 15; all lanes will open by 5:30 a.m. the following day, in time for morning rush hour traffic.
  • Intermittent non-rush hour daytime lane closures will occur on both directions of I-94 Nov. 13 through Nov. 17.

The closures are needed while crews work on the new Fallon Avenue bridge spanning I-94 in Monticello.

The new Fallon Avenue bridge is one part of a larger project to improve the transportation system in the area. The project will construct a new roadway that connects Fallon Avenue to Seventh Street, and includes three new roundabouts plus additional sidewalk and trail connections. When complete, the project will decrease congestion, improve mobility and safety for motorists and pedestrians, and provide improved access to schools and businesses on the south side of I-94 in Monticello.

The project is being led by the city of Monticello. For more information, visit ci.monticello.mn.us/projects.
