Interstate 94 reduced to a single lane at Highway 23 interchange in Waite Park beginning October 7
ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Interstate 94 in Waite Park will be reduced to one lane in both directions at the Highway 23 interchange starting next week as crews construct deceleration lanes for the new loops added to the interchange.
The initial lane closures will begin on westbound I-94 on Monday, Oct. 7, then on eastbound I-94 Tuesday, Oct. 8. Crews will work from sunrise to sunset. Westbound lanes of I-94 in Waite Park are expected to reopen on Sunday, Oct. 13 and eastbound I-94 lanes are expected to reopen on Monday, Oct. 14, pending good weather conditions.
Work operations on the I-94/Highway 23 interchange will suspend for the winter in November. Crews will complete concrete work and install signs at the I-94/Highway 23 interchange in spring 2020. The new loops will open by June 2020.
The overall project will improve traffic flow, safety and access at the busy interchange. To learn more about this project or view a layout of the interchange improvements, visit mndot.gov/d3/i94.
