Project is about three weeks behind schedule. Detour to go through September. MnDOT thanks you for your continued patience during this Hwy 71 closure in Long Prairie.

Hwy 71 is closed between the south and north junction of Todd Co. Rd. 56/Riverside Dr. to reconstruct the bridge over the Long Prairie River. Here's what to expect:

  • Detour uses Co. Rd. 56/Riverside Dr. Detour map, PDF
  • Temporary three-way stop at the Hwy 71 intersection of Co. Rd. 56/Riverside Dr. and Hwy 27/1st Ave. NE
  • Local access open to businesses and residents on either side of the closed bridge

Future impacts, work

Road work in early September

After the bridge is complete in early September, crews will resurface the road between 1st Ave. NE and Hope Dr. Motorists will encounter lane closures and flaggers.
