Open house for I-94/Hwy 29 project in Alexandria set for March 29

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites Alexandria businesses and the public to learn more about the Interstate 94/Highway 29 interchange reconstruction project set to begin this year.

An informational open house is scheduled from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at the Holiday Inn, 5637 Highway 29 South, Alexandria. No formal presentation is planned.

The meeting is an opportunity for the public to learn about the project timeline, detours and anticipated traffic impacts. Representatives from MnDOT and Central Specialties will be available at the meeting to answer questions.

Key elements of this year’s work include:

  • The replacement of the Highway 29 bridges over I-94
  • I-94 ramp modifications to reduce congestion at 50th Avenue South

The two-year project began last fall with the four-lane expansion of Highway 29, realignment of Douglas County Road 28 and construction of a roundabout on Highway 29.

Additional information and a project layout are also available at www.mndot.gov/d4/projects/alexi94hwy29.
