Hwy 75 detour near Kent begins July 5
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 75 near Kent will encounter a detour starting Tuesday, July 5, for the next phase of the Highway 75 realignment project.
For the next month, crews will build the connections between the old and new highway alignments. The work means traffic will not be able to move through the construction zone.
During this phase, Highway 75 will close and motorists will detour to County Road 3 and County Road 26. Access to the city of Kent will be maintained.
The realignment project addresses three major deficiencies with the current roadway:
- Repeated flooding on this highway segment
- A bridge requiring replacement over Whiskey Creek
- Reduced height clearance on the BNSF Railway bridge
This project helps ensure MnDOT’s transportation system will continue to serve the state for many years.
