Orange barrels on a highway

Southbound Highway 75/Eighth Street over I-94 opens today

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Southbound Highway 75/Eighth Street over Interstate 94 in Moorhead opened to traffic Tuesday, Sept. 13.

The opening means the new signals are operational on both northbound and southbound Highway 75/Eighth Street. Under the new diverging diamond interchange configuration, Highway 75/Eighth Street traffic crosses to the left side of the road between the interstate ramps. Signs, signals and pavement markings all help guide motorists through new interchange.

Work is still occurring within the interchange area, so motorists are urged to use extra caution in the construction zone.

The ramp from Highway 75/Eighth Street to westbound I-94 and the ramp from eastbound I-94 to Highway 75/Eighth Street remain closed. They will open as soon as they are paved and striped.

More information about the project, including a simulation of the Moorhead diverging diamond interchange, is available at mndot.gov/d4/projects/moorhead.

When completed, the new diverging diamond interchange will improve mobility, capacity and safety along the I-94 and Highway 75 corridors.
