TRAVEL ALERT: Westbound I-94 traffic switches near Fergus Falls
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Westbound traffic on Interstate 94 northwest of Fergus Falls shifted back to the westbound bridge at 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 26.
Even though eastbound and westbound bridges are open, traffic will be limited to a single lane in each direction for the next two to three weeks while crews complete clean-up and median removal work.
In addition, motorists on Otter Tail County Road 88 beneath the two bridges may experience short delays over the next few weeks. A temporary signal will restrict traffic in one direction at a time while crews sandblast and paint the refurbished bridges.
Speed limits on I-94 are reduced to 60 mph through the work zone. Motorists are reminded that violators will be fined a minimum of $300.
The new bridge decks will extend the life of the bridges and result in a smoother road surface.
