Toward Zero Deaths honors Kristi Engelstad with TZD Star Award
MOORHEAD, Minn. — Kristi Engelstad from F-M Ambulance was among 18 individuals honored by Minnesota Toward Zero Deaths for their work to save lives through improved traffic safety. The awards were announced at the statewide TZD conference Oct. 23-24 in St. Cloud.
Engelstad received the Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Star Award. Engelstad was honored for her extensive traffic safety education and outreach efforts, including the “Buckle up with Bucky” program which has helped teach seat belt safety to more than 13,000 children, and as a passionate traffic safety leader who collaborates with community partners to improve traffic safety.
TZD Star Awards are given annually to recognize those who display excellence in engineering, enforcement, emergency medical and trauma services, education, child passenger safety and judicial/court systems. They have shown leadership and creativity with extraordinary efforts to improve traffic safety and build partnerships with others working towards the same goal.
The Minnesota TZD program is an interdisciplinary partnership led by the state departments of health, transportation and public safety.
