Starting May 6, MnDOT will begin a project to resurface Highway 119, from Highway 40 in the Lac Qui Parle County to Highway 12, north of Appleton. The project excludes the portion of Hwy 119 that's within the city of Appleton.

Upcoming traffic impacts

  • Lane closures
  • Short-term detours:
    • Stage 1 (May 6 - 16): Highway 119 closed between Lac Qui Parle Co Rd 34 and Hwy 40
      • Traffic detoured to Co Rds 34, 19 and 26.
    • Stage 2 (May 17 - June 2): Highway 119 closed between Hwy 12 and Hwy 59/7
      • Traffic detoured to Hwys 12 and 59

Public Involvement

MnDOT has rescheduled the Highway 119 project open house:

WHEN: Wednesday, May 1, 4:30 - 7 p.m.
WHERE: Appleton Civic Center, 323 West Schlieman Avenue

Representatives from the Highway 119 project team and Hwy 40 Milan Bridge replacement project team will be available to discuss details and answer questions.
