Spring Valley Hwy 63 detour begins April 26 for concrete repair project
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Southbound Highway 63 motorists will be detoured west of Spring Valley beginning on Tuesday, April 26 for a concrete pavement repair and curb ramp improvement project in town, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The two-week detour is only for southbound Highway 63. Traffic will remain open for northbound Highway 63 traffic through Spring Valley. The highway is only two lanes through this area, so both directions of traffic cannot be maintained during the repairs.
The southbound detour route begins west of Spring Valley:
Fillmore County Road 39 south to Fillmore County Road 1, which continues south into Ostrander. Motorists then turn east (left) on Fillmore County Road 3 until it intersects with Highway 63.
Local traffic into Spring Valley can choose alternate routes for their local destinations.
The contractor, Chippewa Concrete Services, is repairing the concrete roadway in Spring Valley, as well as completing ADA curb ramp improvements and catch basin repairs. The detour will only be in effect for two weeks, but the remainder of the project is scheduled through the third week in May.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
