West Second Street to be rerouted Friday, April 29 for Winona Bridge project

ROCHESTER, Minn. —West Second Street traffic in Winona will be rerouted from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, April 29 between Huff and Washington streets as workers complete the pouring of the concrete deck over Second Street for the Winona Bridge Project, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Traffic needs to be rerouted during this work to ensure safety for motorists and the workers. The rerouting will send traffic from West Second Street to West Fourth Street. Work is expected to be completed by the end of the day, weather permitting.

Ames Construction, the contractor, will monitor traffic to ensure that backups do not occur during the peak morning and afternoon commuting times. The signal at the West Second Street and Riverview Drive/Huff Street intersection will be switched to a flashing red. Flashing red indicates motorists should stop and then proceed when the intersection is clear to safely proceed.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
