Traffic lane changes scheduled at 19th St. NW-Assisi Drive in Rochester near Hwy 52
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists should be alert for traffic lane changes that will be taking place beginning Tuesday, May 3 at 19th St. NW-Assisi Drive in Rochester on the east side of Highway 52, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The lanes that are changing are on northbound Assisi Drive NW. The number of lanes will remain the same, but their purposes will change:
- The far left lane remains a left turn lane and should be used for motorists who want to travel west across the 19th Street NW bridge or travel south on Highway 52.
- The middle lane will be a left turn lane only. Motorists should use this lane to travel west across the 19th Street NW bridge or travel north onto Highway 52.
- The far right lane will now include through traffic traveling across the intersection or wanting to make a right turn to travel east on Elton Hills Drive NW.
MnDOT workers will be at the intersection for two days beginning May 3 to convert the lanes, weather permitting. Motorists may encounter lane closures, while the pavement markings are installed and new signs are placed to direct motorists. Work will take place between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The changes are to better accommodate traffic at peak periods when motorists want to turn west toward Highway 52.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
