Single lane traffic on Hwy 3 in Northfield begins May 31 for road construction
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 3 on the north end of Northfield will encounter single lane traffic in each direction beginning Tuesday, May 31 for road repaving work, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The 1.3-mile stretch of Highway 3 from Highway 19 (Water Street) north to Sheldale Road is being repaved by contractor, Crane Creek Asphalt. This is part of a project that will include similar work in June on small segments of Highways 298 and 299 in Faribault. Overall it’s a $1.1 million project.
Highway 3 will be reduced to one lane in each direction and there will be alternating lane closures. Short delays are possible because of the road construction work. Work is scheduled to be completed by June 23.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
