UPDATE: Hwy 250 bridge closure postponed near Lanesboro because of weather
ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Highway 250 bridge closure north of Lanesboro planned overnight on Sept. 8 has been postponed, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Weather delayed progress to be ready to set the beams tonight. A new date has not been scheduled, but will be announced in advance. When the effort resumes, the work is expected to occur in the evening and be done by sunrise the next day.
Crews will be placing seven bridge beams and the crane for the work will block the highway, while the operation is occurring. Local residents can use local roads to avoid the overnight closure. The crane can be moved for emergency vehicles.
Minnowa Construction of Harmony, Minnesota, is the prime contractor on the $3.8 million project, which is replacing that bridge and another Highway 250 bridge further north of Lanesboro.
The detour takes southbound Highway 250 motorists east on Highway 30 to Rushford, south on Highway 43 in Rushford and then southwest on Highway 16 to Lanesboro. A map of the route can be found at MnDOT’s website: www.dot.state.mn.us/d6/projects/hwy250-bridge/2319-16_newdetourmap.pdf
The project also involves improvements to the existing roadway alignment approaching each bridge. The bridge at the edge of Lanesboro crosses the South Branch of the Root River, while the other bridge north of town crosses the North Branch of the Root River.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
