SE Minnesota road construction projects enter final stretch of 2016 season

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Road and bridge construction projects on southeast Minnesota state highways are nearing the final stages in the season, while others have been completed, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

These projects are completed:

  • Hwy 3, Hwy 298, Hwy 299 in Rice County (Northfield and Faribault). Resurfacing
  • Hwy 14 from Chester to St. Charles. Resurfacing
  • Hwy 30 east of Hayfield. Bridge replacement
  • Hwy 52 in Rochester. Restriping highway
  • Hwy 52 65th St NW to Elk Run interchange. Intelligent Transportation System extension of traffic management system
  • Hwy 52 Southbound lanes from north of Zumbrota to south of Pine Island. Resurfacing
  • Hwy 56 in Adams. Two bridge replacements
  • Hwy 61 in Red Wing. Reconstruction and pedestrian safety improvements
  • Hwy 63 in Spring Valley. Concrete pavement repairs, ADA improvements
  • Hwy 105 in Austin. Resurfacing

These projects are nearing completion or continuing as part of multi-year projects:

  • Hwy 14/I-35 bridge replacements south of Owatonna. Work to continue through 2018
  • Hwy 19 in Northfield. Historic bridge restoration
  • I-35 in Freeborn and Steele counties. Cable median barrier installation
  • I-35 south of Owatonna. Straight River Rest Area replacement. Opening spring 2017
  • Hwy 42 in Elgin. Bridge replacement, resurfacing, ADA improvements
  • Hwy 43 in Winona. Bridge construction, rehabilitation. New bridge completed. Rehabilitation to end 2019
  • Hwy 52 in Rochester at Hwy 63 interchange. Bridge deck replacements, add third lane to northbound
  • Hwy 57 in Mantorville. Historic retaining wall restoration, reconstruction, ADA improvements
  • Hwy 61 in Winona. Gilmore Ave. reconstruction, signal improvements
  • I-90 Dresbach Bridge. Mississippi River bridge replacement, ramp improvements to Hwy 61
  • Hwy 250 in Lanesboro. Two bridge replacements north of Lanesboro

Construction will continue through early November, but many of the remaining projects are on track to be completed in October, weather permitting.
