Join MnDOT at annual Rochester Transportation Fair on May 20
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Kids and curious adults can get an up close look at a Minnesota Department of Transportation snowplow if they visit the annual Transportation Fair on Saturday, May 20 in Rochester.
MnDOT is proud to be a part of this free event sponsored by Parents Are Important in Rochester (PAIIR), the School Readiness program and Rochester Public Works.
The event is at Goose Egg Park, 199 Eighth St. N.W. in Rochester across from the Northrop Education Center. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Visitors can meet Tracy Taylor, a MnDOT snowplow operator in Rochester, who will talk about her work. You can also see how sophisticated the machinery is that Taylor and other MnDOT workers use to clear snow from the state’s roadways.
This event features hands-on tours of dump trucks, snowplows, law enforcement vehicles, community service vehicles, recreational vehicles, big trucks and more. You can also meet the people who drive these vehicles and ask questions about their work. Kids can also enjoy face painting and other family resources.
To learn more about the event, call 507-328-4020.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
