Hwy 63 lane, ramp closures planned Sept. 4-5 in south Rochester at 40th Street, delays expected

ROCHESTER, Minn. – Hwy 63 motorists in south Rochester will encounter lane closures, ramp closures, detours and short-term traffic delays at 40th Street South on Sept. 4 and 5 for bridge maintenance work, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Beginning at 8 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4, the right lane of southbound Hwy 63 north of 40th Street South will be closed along with the off-ramp to 40th to allow MnDOT crews to safely complete the repairs. Traffic wanting to use 40th Street will be detoured south to the next exit at 48th Street and may follow the signed detour route to reach their destinations. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the day. Hwy 63 traffic will be routed to one lane, the far left lane, as they approach and pass through the work zone at 40th Street South.

On Thursday, Sept. 5, the right lane of northbound Hwy 63 will be closed near 48th Street South along with the northbound on-ramp to 40th to allow MnDOT crews to safely complete the repairs. Traffic wanting to use the 40th Street on-ramp to northbound Hwy 63 may follow the signed detour route to reach their destinations by using the on-ramp at 48th Street. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the day. Hwy 63 traffic will be routed to one lane, the far left lane, as they approach and pass through the work zone at 40th Street South.
