Hwy 52 southbound repaving starts Sept. 17, 55th Street ramp detours Sept. 25-28
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Hwy 52 motorists north of Rochester should be alert for traffic delays and ramp detours beginning Sept. 17, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Construction crews will begin resurfacing the southbound lanes of Hwy 52 on Sept. 17 from the Elk Run interchange to 85th Street north of Rochester. Additionally, crews will be resurfacing the off- and on-ramps of Hwy 52 at 55th Street Northwest in Rochester.
Motorists may experience traffic slowdowns during the paving work on southbound Hwy 52, especially during the morning and afternoon commuting times.
Motorists using the ramps at 55th Street will be detoured for two days on each side of the highway beginning Sept. 25. The northbound exit and southbound entrance ramps (south side of 55th St.) will be closed Sept. 25-26. The southbound exit and northbound entrance ramps (north side of 55th St.) will be closed Sept. 27-28. The closures could change if weather affects construction.
The detour involves using adjacent frontage roads and the 37th Street Northwest and 41st Street Northwest ramps. Signs will mark the detour. Motorists may choose alternate routes.
Rochester Sand & Gravel is the prime contractor in this $1.1 million project.
