I-35 southbound off-ramp traffic signal in Owatonna in flashing red mode during repairs
ROCHESTER, Minn. — The southbound Interstate 35 off-ramp traffic signal at Bridge Street in Owatonna will be in flashing red mode beginning Wednesday, Oct. 16 for approximately two weeks, while crews replace the foundation and the signal pole that was damaged by a vehicle crash, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The traffic signal pole and its foundation were damaged in August during a vehicle crash. A MnDOT contractor is replacing the foundation and the signal, so the current signal will be in red flashing mode, meaning motorists must stop before proceeding when it’s safe to do so. Westbound traffic on Bridge Street will have stop signs to help regulate the traffic.
The new concrete foundation for the replacement signal pole will take approximately one week to cure or achieve the needed strength to hold the pole. The pole will be replaced and the signal connected, so it can be operational. The work is expected to take approximately two weeks, weather permitting.
