Hwy 16 Resurfacing

Dexter to Spring Valley

Traffic impacts

I-494 Ramp Closures
Hwy 16 Resurfacing Project Map
  • Traffic began traveling this week on Hwy 16 between Hwy 63 and Spring Valley. It will continue, but be alert Monday, June 17 for paving work that will be taking place. That means potential for short delays.

During the paving, crews work on one lane of the highway and keep the other open. Flaggers and pilot cars are used to ensure that vehicles can go back and forth on the one lane, meaning one direction is stopped to allow the other direction to move through the construction zone and then the other direction is stopped to allow the stopped vehicles to then move through.

  • We are also continuing the short detour that was put in place June 10, so we can finish the culvert replacement work in that area of Hwy 16 to the west Hwy 63.

That detour is between Hwy 63 and Mower County Road 8 to the west. That detour is Hwy 63 north to Mower County Road 2 west to Mower County Road 8 into Grand Meadow to Hwy 16.

  • After that work is completed, we will institute a detour between Hwy 63 and Interstate 90. That detour is Hwy 63 north to Mower County Road 2 west to Mower County Road 7 in Dexter near I-90. That detour is expected to last into late August.
