The Hwy 16 detour at Hwy 63 will lengthen beginning tonight as crews continue culvert replacement work moving toward Grand Meadow.
The new Hwy 16 detour on the east side is Hwy 63 north to Mower County Road 2 west to Mower County Road 7 in Dexter near I-90. That detour is expected to last into late August or early September.
Vehicles that approach Hwy 16 from the south on Mower County Road 14, should turn east at Hwy 16 to travel to Hwy 63. Culvert work is to the west of this intersection.
Be alert for continued Hwy 16 paving work. That means potential for short delays. During the paving, crews work on one lane of the highway and keep the other open. Flaggers and pilot cars are used to ensure that vehicles can go back and forth on the one lane, meaning one direction is stopped to allow the other direction to move through the construction zone and then the other direction is stopped to allow the stopped vehicles to then move through.
