Highway 15 in Fairmont topic of open house set for March 7
Interstate 90 construction information also available
MANKATO, Minn. – The public is encouraged to attend an open house for construction on Highway 15 in Fairmont at the Fairmont City Council Chambers on Monday, March 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. The meeting is hosted by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the City of Fairmont. MnDOT will also have information available on the Interstate 90 construction.
The City and MnDOT are working to complete the final designs on the Highway 15 project, scheduled for 2017, that includes pavement resurfacing, traffic signal work, sidewalk work, and utility repair between Johnson Street and Goemann Road. Public review and comments are welcomed.
The I-90 project from Sherburn to Fairmont includes resurfacing on the westbound lanes and numerous bridge repairs on both the westbound and eastbound lanes in 2017. Traffic impacts will include restrictions to two lane and ramp closures. Both eastbound and westbound Highway 15 ramps in Fairmont will be closed for about two months at separate times. The ramps at Highway 4 in Sherburn will remain open for the entire project. Crews will begin preparing for the 2017 work in July of this year by constructing median crossovers.
