Hwy 71 bridge construction open house set for Feb. 29

Construction and detour to begin May 4

MANKATO, Minn. – Jackson residents and businesses are encouraged to stop at the open house on Monday, Feb. 29 for the bridge replacement on Highway 71 in Jackson.  The informal meeting will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Jackson City Hall, 80 W. Ashley Street.

Construction is set to begin May 4 with a Highway 71 detour to E. Ashley Street and Jackson County Roads 23 and 34.

Staff from MnDOT, Minnowa Construction and the city of Jackson will be on hand to provide an update on the construction and address questions.

The Highway 71 project includes replacing a 60 year-old bridge, improving operations at the Highway 71/Springfield Drive (CR 14) 4th Street intersection, resurfacing, building better pedestrian and bicycle accommodations and improving safety by with reduced speeds and turn lanes.
