I-90 Sherburn to Fairmont construction moves to next stage

MANKTO, Minn. –Motorists are advised that traffic changes are coming for the Interstate 90 project from Sherburn to Fairmont as early as Wednesday, June 14.

I-90 westbound ramps to Welcome are expected to close and I-90 will be two-way traffic on the eastbound from Highway 4 to Martin County Road 39 on June 14.

In late June, motorists can expect the eastbound ramps (Highway 15 Fairmont) to close and the westbound ramps to open.

While I-90 traffic will be maintained with two lanes of two-way traffic, ramps at interchanges impacted at varying times during the May to August construction include Highway 263, Martin County Road 39 and Highway 15. More information on this project (including a construction staging map) and other I-90 projects in southwestern Minnesota can be found at www.dot.state.mn.us/d7/projects/I90preserve.

The project includes resurfacing the westbound lanes between Sherburn and Fairmont and the eastbound lanes for about a mile west of Fairmont.  Four bridges will be repaired and lighting replaced.  Ulland Brothers, Inc. of Albert Lea have been awarded the project with a bid of $7,392,429.

The Highway 15 project in Fairmont is expected to begin in July and an open house is being planned for late June.
