Detour for construction of Hwy 19 turn lanes begins Sept. 5

MANKATO, Minn. — Motorists are advised that Highway 19 at the east edge of New Prague will be detoured beginning Tuesday, September 5 so that crews can construct turn lanes at Le Sueur County Road 3 and Scott County Road 89.

The detour consists of Highway 21, Scott County Road 2 and Highway 13 and will be in place until early October.  Access will be maintained to the area car dealerships throughout construction. Through traffic on Highway 19 will be allowed for Dozinky Days.

The project includes resurfacing the highway from the intersection of Alton Avenue in New Prague to the intersections with County Roads 3 and 89.  The added turn lanes include a right-turn lane into Jeff Belzer’s Ford and a center left turn lane between County Road 3 and 89.  It also includes lighting at the intersections.

When the project is complete motorists will have improved safety and mobility on Highway 19 and reduced crashes.

Valley Paving, Inc. of Shakopee was awarded the contract with a bid of $422,923.
