Expect lane closure on Hwy 169 near 7 Mile Creek Park
MANKATO, Minn. – Motorists can expect the outside northbound lane closed on Highway 169 near 7 Mile Creek Park between Mankato and St. Peter beginning Friday, December 1 for work in the Minnesota River.
Weather permitting, the lane closure, which extends from 7 Mile Creek to the north, will be in place about one week. Motorists are also advised to drive with caution and watch for trucks entering and exiting the work zone.
The work is left-over from the 2016 Highway 169 flood mitigation project. The work consists of building bend way weirs made of rip rap or large rocks that will direct the river channel away from the Highway 169 embankment.
The contractor has not been able to complete the river work with the higher than average elevations of the Minnesota River over the construction season.
