Crews ready for Hwy 19 and Hwy 93 closure in Henderson and Le Sueur area due to flooding

Access Henderson Sauerkraut Days from the west on Hwy 19

MANKATO, Minn. — (4:30 p.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation wants motorists to prepare for highway closings due to flooding in the Henderson and LeSueur area this weekend as the Minnesota River forecasts rise.

Likely closures include:

  • Hwy 19 from Hwy 169 to Henderson (early Saturday morning)
  • Hwy 93 from Hwy 169 to Henderson (later on Saturday)
  • Hwy 93 from Hwy 169 to Le Sueur (Sunday)

If river forecasts hold, Hwy 19 and 93 into Henderson closures will take place on Saturday and Hwy 93 into Le Sueur on Sunday. Festival goers to Henderson’s Sauerkraut Days will be able to access the community from the west on Hwy 19. Travelers are advised to watch for signing and be alert to changing conditions.

Flooding is difficult to predict and roads may be closed or restricted without warning. Log jams can further complicate flood forecasts. MnDOT is closely monitoring rivers throughout the area.
Motorists should check road conditions at 511mn.org.

Motorists should seek alternate routes, as the roads will remain closed until the water level recedes and crews can inspect for safe operations.
