Highway 14/169 ramps expected open by Nov. 6

Mankato Levee work nears completion

MANKATO, Minn. – As the construction on Highway 169 for the Mankato levee nears completion, traffic impacts will be dramatically improved by Tuesday, Nov. 6, including the opening of all ramps at Highway 14/169.

Highway 169 traffic will remain single lane in each direction, but not in a head to head situation.  The left turn into Happy Chef and the BP gas station need to remain closed to accommodate the removal of the crossover, guardrail installation and striping.

Motorists can expect these restrictions to be in place until mid to late November, weather permitting.

Project information can be found on at  mndot.gov/d7/projects/hwy169mankato/. Detours and updates are also posted on the statewide road condition site at 511mn.org

The project is designed to bring the Mankato Levee up to current FEMA standards and is a partnership effort between MnDOT, Mankato and North Mankato. OMG Midwest (SMC) was awarded the Highway 169 levee construction with a bid of $1,670,000.
