Two of three Highway 60 J-turns by Heron Lake open on Wednesday
County Road 9 intersection to close for modifications
MANKATO, Minn. — Two of three J-turns on Highway 60 in Heron Lake (at Jackson County Roads 24 and 43) are expected to open to traffic while the third J-turn currently open at Jackson County Road 9 will close on Wednesday, September 25, weather permitting.
The Highway 60/County Road 9 J-turn will be closed for modifications that become apparent during the demonstration event earlier this summer. One improvement is to make the island curb and gutter accessible for emergency vehicles and the other at the west County Road 9 U-turn area will be adjusting the pavement grade for lower clearance vehicles.
All three of the Reduced Conflict Intersections or J-turns are expected to be complete and open to traffic around October 14.
