I-90 Fairmont to Blue Earth construction wrapping up for winter

MANKATO, Minn. – Weather permitting, westbound Interstate 90 from Fairmont to Blue Earth will start to carry traffic early next week (October 29).  The I-90 opening includes the westbound ramps at County Road 1 (Guckeen) and County Road 53 (Granada).

Some lane restrictions in both directions should be expected as minor finishing work continues until the end of the week.

Motorists are reminded that this is a two-year project and the eastbound lanes of I-90 will be under construction next year as will the eastbound Highway 15 ramps at Fairmont and the interchange at Guckeen.

The 2019-20 project includes resurfacing the sixteen miles of both westbound (2019) and eastbound (2020) interstate lanes with concrete for a long-term fix as well as making improvements at bridges, culverts and drainage pipes.  The project also includes adding interchange lighting at County Highways 53 and 1.  More information and maps of the traffic impacts can be found at www.mndot.gov/d7/projectsi90fairmontblueearth/.

Croell, Inc. of New Hampton, Iowa was awarded the project with a bid of $38,540,707.
