Hwy 93 south of Henderson closed due to flooding; Highway 99 Minnesota River Bridge at St. Peter opens, for now
MANKATO, Minn. – (9:15 am) The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) closed Highway 93 between Highway 169 and Henderson yesterday morning (Sunday, March 8) due to flooding of the Rush River and will remain closed until further notice. Motorists are advised to use Highway 19 into Henderson as an alternate route.
Highway 99 at the Minnesota River Bridge in St. Peter is expected to open by 10:00 a.m. this morning, after closing last night (Sunday, March 8) due to flooding of the Minnesota River. However, forecasted Minnesota River levels may result in another closure later this week.
MnDOT crews will continue to closely monitor river levels. Highways and bridges impacted by floods need to be inspected for damage and safety prior to opening.
When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
