MnDOT announces early start date for Hwy 19 and Hwy 68 construction projects

WILLMAR, Minn. — Several construction projects will start early due to favorable spring weather conditions.

Highway 19 from Fairfax to Morton, Highway 68 from Milroy to Highway 19 and Highway 68 from Wabasso to Highway 71 will begin Monday, May 2. The original start date was May 9, 2016. A total of 24 miles of roadway will be resurfaced resulting in smoother road surfaces.

In addition to resurfacing work, intersections in the cities of Morton, Fairfax and Milroy will receive ADA improvements including the installation of curb cuts and truncated domes to update pedestrian crossings to meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Specific intersections can be found under the ADA tab on project webpages.

Lane closures are planned during paving. Short delays may occur. All three projects will be completed under traffic utilizing a flagger with pilot car. The project is scheduled to be completed by August 12, 2016. A width limit of 11’ will be in effect.

Duininck, Inc. is the contractor on the project.

Motorists are urged to drive with caution in work zones and to slow down when workers are present.
