Open house for Hwy 23 passing lanes project set for May 17 in Cottonwood

WILLMAR, Minn. – Area residents and business owners are invited to an open house Tuesday, May 17 from 4:30-6 pm at the Cottonwood Community Center (142 West Main Street in Cottonwood) to discuss the upcoming Highway 23 passing lanes project between Hanley Falls and Cottonwood.

There will be no formal presentation, but participants will be able to meet with Minnesota Department of Transportation project staff and give feedback. Construction is set to begin June 6, 2016.  This project will require a detour.

The Highway 23 passing lanes project involves the construction of passing lanes, turning lanes and intersection improvements at six designated locations on Highway 23 between Interstate 90 and Willmar. The improvements will affect approximately 11.4 miles of the 140-mile corridor.

The Highway 23 passing lanes project is part of the Corridors of Commerce program, which the Legislature created in 2013. For more information about the Corridors of Commerce program, see www.mndot.gov/corridorsofcommerce/.

This project helps ensure Minnesota’s transportation system will continue to serve the state for many years.
