Hwy 23 safety assessment open house to stream live on City of Marshall’s Facebook page
WILLMAR, Minn. – Area residents, business owners and others are invited to attend an open house on Tuesday, August 23 from 4:30-6 pm in Marshall.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation and its partners, the City of Marshall, Lyon County and the Marshall Area Transportation Group are conducting a safety assessment to evaluate the current and future performance of Highway 23 and develop short and long term strategies to manage the corridor now and in the future.
The open house will be held from 4:30 to 6 pm at the Marshall-Lyon County Library (201 C St. in Marshall) in the Community Room. There will be a formal presentation at 5:00 pm on priorities and recommended strategies to increase safety on Highway 23 through Marshall that will stream live on the City of Marshall’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/marshall.minnesota.5).
Community members are encouraged to come anytime between 4:30 and 6 p.m. as there will be time before and after the presentation to view priorities and recommended strategies as well as speak with staff from SRF Consulting Group and other assessment partners (City of Marshall, Marshall Area Transportation Group, Lyon County and MnDOT District 8).
The presentation will be available to watch on Facebook at any time so individuals not able to make the open house are encouraged to visit City of Marshall’s Facebook page and the project web site at www.dot.state.mn.us/d8/projects/hwy23marshallstudy/ to learn more about the next steps.
Information gained from the community will be used as part of the safety assessment report which will be complete this fall.
