Public open house for roundabout set for October 27

WILLMAR, Minn. – The fourth public open house for the roundabout project is set for Thursday, October 27 from 4:30-6:00 pm at the Willmar Public Library (410 5th St. SW).  The roundabout will be constructed next summer (2017) at the intersection of Highway 71 and Highway 7 near Blomkest.

The final layout will be available for viewing.  Staff from MnDOT and Kimley-Horn will be present to answer questions and provide information on roundabouts.  There will be no formal presentation.

In January of 2015, MnDOT received funding to build a roundabout at the intersection of Highway 71 and Highway 7 near the city of Blomkest.  The funding is part of a statewide special funding program targeted toward improving safety on Minnesota highways.  The estimated cost of the project is $1.9 million.
