Open house for Hwy 23 Marshall project is May 2
WILLMAR, Minn. – The public is invited to attend a construction open house on Thursday, May 2, 2019, to learn about the Highway 23 Reduced Conflict Intersection project scheduled to begin May 6, 2019. The open house will be held at the Marshall-Lyon County Library (201 C St.) in Marshall and will run from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. A brief presentation will take place at 5:15 p.m., however, the public is welcome to visit any time during the open house hours.
Representatives of MnDOT and the construction contractor will be available to answer questions about the construction phase of the project.
The project includes the construction of a Reduced Conflict Intersection (also referred to as a J-turn) at Highway 23 and Lyon County Road 7. Highway 23 will not have a detour. Work will be done using alternating lane closures. There will be a detour of County Road 7 during construction. Detour information will be available at the open house and posted on the project website prior to construction.
Benefits of the project include enhanced safety.
The project is estimated to cost $2.1 million and to be completed by the end of July 2019. Midwest Contracting, LLC, was awarded the contract on April 16, 2019.
