Transportation study considers alternative routes for Hwy 22 in Glencoe
WILLMAR, Minn. – As part of the Glencoe Transportation Study the community was asked about the current route Highway 22 takes through Glencoe. Study partners (MnDOT, McLeod County & City of Glencoe) would like to thank the over 400 individuals that participated in on-line and community events during January and February of this year.
After going through community comments and suggestions for Highway 22 alternative routes there are several routes not progressing in the study process. Reasoning behind why a route would not progress is based on what study partners heard from the community in terms of their concerns and priorities as well as input from the technical team. Study partners, and the technical team are also considering what a future route of Highway 22 means for Highway 212.
A detailed summary of routes not progressing and why, as well as those remaining, can be found on the study’s webpage at www.mndot.gov/d8/projects/hwy212hwy22glencoe.
Starting in mid-May, the community will again be asked to give their feedback. Comments on potential Highway 22 routes as well as intersection improvements along Highway 212 will be sought.
MnDOT and its partners have committed to work with the greater Glencoe community to ensure that the community’s concerns and aspirations are directly reflected in the alternatives developed as part of the Glencoe Transportation Study and to provide feedback on how the community influenced recommendations and decisions.
