Travel advisory updates: Hwy 4 now open from Hector to Fairfax
All No Travel Advisories lifted in southwest Minnesota
WILLMAR, Minn. – (9:00 a.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has opened Highway 4 from just south of Hector to two miles north of Fairfax. It was closed earlier today due to vehicles blocking the roadway.
No Travel Advisories have been lifted for the following highway segments:
- Highway 71 – Olivia to the southern Redwood County border (near Sanborn)
- Highway 7 – Highway 71 to Cosmos (will be lifted within the hour)
- Highway 19 – Morton to Fairfax
- Highway 67 – Redwood Falls to Morgan
- Highway 68 – Wabasso to Morgan
While visibility has improved, roads remain ice-covered and motorists are advised to reduce speeds and drive according to road conditions. Crews will continue to plow drifting snow and treat ice-covered roads, however, treatments are less effective at below-zero temperatures.
The public can view winter road conditions from plow cameras available through the www.511mn.org website. Please note that not all plows have cameras. Road conditions on major highways can also be viewed through the Road Weather Information System (RWIS), which is also part of 511.
