Orange barrels on a highway

I-35W in Bloomington closing overnight March 3

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists traveling on Interstate 35W in Bloomington will encounter detours in both directions beginning at 11 p.m. Thursday, March 3 through 5 a.m. Friday, March 4, weather permitting.

Both directions of I-35W will be closed from 82nd Street to 90th Street in Bloomington. All I-35W ramps between 82nd Street to 90th Street will be closed as well. Crews will begin closing the ramps at 10:45 p.m.

Motorists traveling southbound on I-35W will be detoured around the closure via westbound 82nd Street, southbound Penn Avenue and eastbound 90th Street. Northbound I-35W traffic will be detoured to eastbound 90th Street, northbound Lyndale Avenue and westbound 82nd Street.

The closures are needed so crews can safely remove a damaged gas pipe underneath the 86th Street bridge, which was hit Feb. 20 by a truck traveling south on I-35W.
