Hwy 96 ramp and lane closures in the northeast metro begin March 24
ROSEVILLE, Minn.—Motorists on Highway 96 in White Bear Lake will encounter a single lane in both directions when traffic is shifted to the south side of the road on Thursday, March 24.
Beginning at 9 a.m., westbound Highway 96 traffic between White Bear Parkway and Centerville Road will be shifted to the left lane of eastbound Highway 96. Eastbound Highway 96 traffic will use the right lane. In addition, the southbound I-35E ramp to Highway 96 will close. The lane and ramp closures are needed while crews re-deck the bridge and remove the center median on the Highway 96 bridge spanning Interstate 35E. The lanes and ramp are expected to reopen by late-June.
The work is part of the two-year I-35E Goose Lake Road and Highway 96 road resurfacing project. In addition to resurfacing, the work includes widening the road, redecking and widening the Highway 96 bridge, replacing the I-35E bridges over Goose Lake Road, updating drainage, repairing guardrail and constructing a trail. The work is expected to be complete by Oct. 2016.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slowdown in work zones.
