Weekend lane closures on I-35E at Highway 96 in the northeast metro scheduled Apr. 1
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter single lane traffic on Interstate 35E in White Bear Lake this weekend.
Beginning at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Apr. 1, both directions of I-35E at Highway 96 will be reduced to a single lane. Northbound and Southbound I-35E traffic will be diverted in a single lane up then down the Highway 96 ramps and back onto I-35E. The lane closures are needed as crews remove the Highway 96 bridge deck. The lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Apr. 4.
The work is part of a two-year project, which includes replacing the I-35E bridges over Goose Lake Road resurfacing and widening the road, re-decking and widening the Highway 96 bridge, updating drainage, repairing or replacing guardrail, and constructing a trail. All businesses and residences will remain accessible throughout the project, but motorists should expect delays and long detours. The work is expected to be complete by November 2016.
