I-94 reconstruction work in the East Metro begins April 18
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter ramp and lane closures on both directions of Interstate 94 from St. Paul to Woodbury as crews begin a road resurfacing project.
Beginning Monday, April 18, the eastbound I-94 ramp to East 7th Street will close. Motorists should follow the posted detour using I-94, Highway 52, and Plato Blvd. The ramp is expected to re-open by early June, weather permitting.
The work is part of a larger two-year project which includes resurfacing both directions of Interstate 94 from Mounds Blvd in St. Paul to just east of Century Avenue in Woodbury. Additional work includes constructing and replacing noise walls between Conway Street and Maple Street in St. Paul and extending auxiliary lanes in specific locations, bridge maintenance, trail connections, updating signals and pedestrian access and improving the drainage system.
Access to local businesses and residences will remain open throughout the project.
The 47.7 million Interstate 94 reconstruction and improvement project will provide a smoother, safer, long-lasting road with better pedestrian accessibility and improved drainage capabilities. Performing periodic pavement repairs at the appropriate times can greatly increase a road’s lifespan. The project helps ensure MnDOT’s transportation system will continue to serve the state for many years. Construction is expected to be complete by fall 2017.
