Reconstruction begins Monday, April 25 on Ramsey County Road E2 bridge over I-35W in Arden Hills, New Brighton
Project will upgrade, improve interstate crossing
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Reconstruction of the Ramsey County Road E2 bridge crossing Interstate 35W on the border of Arden Hills and New Brighton begins Monday, April 25. As work begins, the bridge will close at 9 a.m. and remain closed until mid-August.
During the closure, motorists should follow a signed detour using County Road D to reach their destinations.
Removal of the bridge across I-35W is currently scheduled for the weekend of April 30-May 1. I-35W will close from 10 p.m. Friday, April 29 through 5 a.m. Monday, May 2 for demolition of the existing bridge. During the bridge demolition, I-35W will be closed at County Road E2 and a signed detour will guide traffic in a single lane up and down the ramps. No traffic will be allowed to turn onto County Road E2 and County Road E2 traffic will not be allowed to enter I-35W.
Once the bridge is removed, the ramps between northbound I-35W and County Road E2 on the east side of I-35W will close until mid-June for reconstruction. Traffic will detour on County Road D.
County Road E2 will remain closed and detoured throughout the project. There will be occasional lane closures and full closures of the interstate during the work.
The new County Road E2 bridge will improve access across I-35W and improve safety for bicyclists and pedestrians. When completed in mid-August 2016, the new bridge will be a longer lasting, smoother, wider and more modern structure.
