Weekend full closure on I-35E in the Northeast Metro scheduled for June 17-20
Highway 96 Bridge will also close over the weekend
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter road, ramps and bridge closures on Interstate 35E in the White Bear Lake area on June 17- 20.
Beginning at 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 17, most ramps to access or exit I-35E between County Road 14 and County Road E will close. The ramps listed below will be the only open ramps in the closed area:
- County Rd E ramp to southbound I-35E
- County Rd 14 ramp to northbound I-35E
- Southbound I-35E ramp to County Rd 14
Then at 9 p.m. that same night, both directions of I-35E between County Road 14 and County Road E will close. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour using I-35W.
Also at 9 p.m. Friday, June 17, the Highway 96 bridge between Centerville Road and White Bear Parkway will close.
The closures are needed as crews remove the rest of the old Highway 96 bridge deck. These closures are expected to end by 5 a.m. Monday, June 20, weather permitting.
The work is part of a two-year project, which includes replacing the I-35E bridges over Goose Lake Road resurfacing and widening the road, re-decking and widening the Highway 96 bridge, updating drainage, repairing or replacing guardrail, and constructing a trail.
All businesses and residences will remain accessible throughout the project, but motorists should expect delays and long detours. The work is expected to be complete by December 2016.
